TWO TRUCKS, ONE EPIC SHOWDOWN! OTTAWA FIRE TRUCK PULL CROWNS 2025 CHAMPIONS IN THE ULTIMATE DISPLAY OF STRENGTH, SPIRIT, AND COMMUNITY!

OTTAWA, SEPTEMBER 27, 2025, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The 2025 Ottawa Fire Truck Pull roared into Lansdowne Park on Saturday, September 27, 2025, with more power, passion, community spirit and unforgettable moments than ever before.

This year’s event featured a thrilling new head-to-head format, with teams of 10. pulling two 10+ tonne Ottawa Fire Services trucks side-by-side in direct competition 100 feet, culminating in one ultimate showdown! The result was a high-energy showcase of teamwork and determination that brought the community together in support of two incredible causes, Epilepsy Ottawa and the Ottawa First Responders Foundation.

This year’s event drew 22 teams from 3 provinces and 30 cities. From first responders to fitness clubs, community groups, and past champions, all competing across multiple divisions.. Teams travelled a total distance of 3801 kms to compete in various challenges and categories.

Below are the 2025 champions and fastest pull times from the day’s competition:

In a dominating performance of strength, endurance and team work Eight - Won were crowned the Best of the Best 2025 Ottawa Fire Truck Pull Ultimate Champion! Eight - Won are a team of firefighters from Station 81 in Stittsville who claimed the ultimate bragging rights with their third pull of the day and a time of 00:18:44 defeating runners up Mass Electric with a time of 00:19:19. Eight - Won displayed their dominance throughout the day winning the 2025 Shawn Mathieson First Responder Challenge with a time of 00:18:62. The Shawn Mathieson First Responder Challenge is open to firefighters, police officers, and paramedics. The Ottawa Fire Truck pull very much represents who Shawn was as a person; family, strength, community spirit, teamwork and helping others. At 6 feet 5 inches tall, family oriented and always having the best interest of others, Shawn was the epitome of a firefighter. He was a mountain of a man, with a personality to match. Showcasing remarkable teamwork, fundraising efforts, and speed. Special recognition to Eight - Won for also exemplified these traits and were crowned the Best Overall Team, excelling in all aspects of the event, Team Spirit, Fundraising Total and Pull Time.

For the second year in a row Team Shrek, affectionately named after Shawn “Shrek” Mathieson, claimed the honour of Most Charitable Team raising charitable funds every year in Shawn’s honour.

Beast Mode Invitational Challenge Champions, The Tuggers, a team brought together by CHEZ 106.1 Biggs and Barr Show, followed up their performance in “The Miracle at Lansdowne” in 2024 by levelling up in a division of past champions from across the country, delivering a pull of only 18.50 seconds. 

Armed Forces Challenge Champions Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Tug of War claimed top honors in a division representing Canadian Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy and Air Force with a pull time of 00:20:43.

Open Division Community Challenge Champions, Mass Electric, are a team representing Mass Electric Construction Co, leaders in complex electrical infrastructure projects. Mass Electric won the Open Division, a division with no restrictions, with a pull time of only 18.81 seconds. 

Mixed Division Community Challenge Champions, 9Round Barrhaven & Orleans, are a group of owners/trainers from 9Round Barrhaven (Strandherd Dr) & 9Round Orleans (Trim & Innes) working together to raise funds for charity. Teams in the Mixed Division have a maximum of 5 male pullers, 9Round Barrhaven & Orleans crossed the finish line with a time of 22:12 seconds. 

The Women’s Division Community Challenge Champions, Girl Power, A group of individuals who really want to have fun and put themselves to the test of pulling a fire truck, while raising funds for two great charities, who had the fastest pull at 28.32

Smokin’ Hot Grass, a group of my fun friends from various activities , bike group , cribbage , running , bookclub , volunteering , pulling together to donate to a great cause,  were awarded the 2025 Best Team Spirit award.  

“These results reflect not just physical strength, but incredible spirit and teamwork,” said Antony Cooper, Director of Operations & Marketing for the Ottawa Fire Truck Pull. ““The new head-to-head format brought an incredible level of intensity — crowds were on their feet for every matchup. Most importantly, we came together as a city to support two organizations that make a life-changing difference.”

Beyond the competition, the 2025 event raised vital funds to support Epilepsy Ottawa, the only organization in the region that provides education, advocacy, and support for over 10,000 people in the region living with epilepsy, and the Ottawa First Responders Foundation (OFRF), which delivers critical mental health and resilience resources for first responders, veterans, retirees, and their families.

Plans are already underway for the 2026 edition of the Ottawa Fire Truck Pull which will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, promising even more exciting challenges, new teams, and incredible community-driven impact.
